Closed pod systems are now regulated as Pharmacy only products for the purpose of smoking cessation or nicotine dependency management. Closed pod devices and pods 20mg/ml or under are available to purchase without a prescription. However, the Pharmacist has a responsibility to ensure the products are being used for the purpose of smoking cessation or, nicotine dependency management. As Tabuu is an online service and we need to validate that you're a patient using the product appropriately. Therefore, we require each patient to create an account and apply for a prescription. This process ensures we know who the pharmacy is supplying products to and we are providing an appropriate level of care. For closed pods above 20mg/ml there is still the requirement for patients to obtain a prescription prior to dispensing.

Closed systems all use a rechargeable device, these devices include a built-in battery that is rechargeable via a standard USB C cable usually included with the device. Devices are covered by a 3-month warranty as a minimum, with some manufacturers offering up to 12 months. These devices are generally built to hold a day's worth of battery so you can charge overnight. Some patients like to purchase a backup device in the event their device runs out of charge or, stops working. This minimises any chance of relapse if this were to happen.

Closed pods come with the pre-selected nicotine strength and flavour in the pod, all you are required to do is insert the pod and start using. When the pod is empty, you can dispose of the pod and insert a new one. Closed pods all use nicotine salts which is the closest experience to smoking vs freebase nicotine. They come in different strengths, allowing you to gradually decrease your nicotine consumption over time. Closed systems are recommended by the RACGP as they are the most simple and easiest systems to use.
